Questions

How It Works

  • Can resin paving go over my old driveway?

Sometimes, but only if the existing base is sound, level, and free from movement or drainage problems. If cracks, soft spots, or pooling water are present, those need to be addressed first. The base is assessed at survey before any overlay is quoted.

  • How do I choose the right colour or aggregate blend?

Samples are assessed on site against the house, existing paths, and edging so the blend reads correctly in natural light. It also helps to consider how the surface will look in wet weather, when darker aggregates deepen and lighter ones can appear washed out.

  • Will a new resin surface fix pooling water?

Not if the base is already holding water. The drainage gradient and ground conditions are checked at survey first. Where falls are incorrect or the sub-base is waterlogged, those are corrected before the decorative layer is specified, otherwise the problem moves beneath the new surface.

  • What happens if I delay sorting a cracked or uneven surface?

Cracks and movement in the existing base tend to worsen over winter. Water gets into the gaps, freezes, and widens them. A surface that could have been overlaid may need full excavation and a new sub-base if the base deteriorates further, adding cost and time to the job.

  • Is a resin surface just decorative, or does it serve a practical purpose?

Both. A resin bound surface locks aggregate in place so stones do not scatter onto the road or into the house. It also provides a stable, even surface that is straightforward to sweep and keep tidy, the decorative finish and the practical performance come from the same construction.

  • What is included in the survey before work starts?

The existing base is checked for damage, movement, and drainage falls. Levels are assessed to confirm the gradient needed for the finished surface to shed water. Any areas requiring repair or excavation are identified and quoted as separate line items before the design is finalised.
